At Bedford Rowing Club we aim to be a club that allows its members to row at the level they want to. Whether your aim is to become a top level rower competing nationally and internationally - or to learn to row and to row with a group of like-minded recreational rowers - we have a membership level for you.
Full membership covers most rowers. Having become competent to row on the river on your own you'll become a member of one of our squads. You will be able to access the boathouse to use the boats, gym and erg room at times to suit you.
Recreational rowers use the club outside of times when the club is being used by squads. typically this is rowing during the day, when our recreational rowers organise their own sessions. They also arrange social events such as trips to local places of interest.
The future of our sport, we put a lot of resource into developing our junior squad. Training is provided by dedicated coaches and supported by our Welfare and Safeguarding Officer.
Having completed Learn To Row, you will progress to our Explorer group where you will develop your confidence and skills. Membership of this group can continue for as long as necessary before moving into one of the squads.
We offer Introduction to Rowing courses for both adults and juniors (under 18s), if you are interested in learning to row then please complete and send us your details in the form below, to be added to our wait list and be informed about our next courses (when the details are available, they will also be posted on this website).
Our athletes are the heart and soul of {Sports Club}. We are proud of their hard work, dedication, and achievements, both on and off the field. Meet our athletes and learn more about their stories and accomplishments.
We have an extensive fleet of more than sixty boats from our top Filippi boats through to training sculls for the absolute beginner.
Our gym is fully equipped for Strength and Conditioning training. The gym was refurbished and new equipment bought in March 2025. If you consider that you would pay £30/month to join a gym with similar facilities this is a huge benefit to members.
Each squad has its own dedicated training sessions run by a squad member.
Rowing machines form the backbone of off-water training for rowers to build endurance and stamina. Coaches set exercises each week to prepare the rower for the current season (Heads or Regattas).
Each squad has its own dedicated sessions run by a squad member
Each squad has its own coaches. Coaches will manage training sessions, set weekly erg tasks, arrange specific training on technique and guide you on your path to meet achieve what you want.
Our bar and clubroom are the focus of after-training social activity. On Saturdays the clubroom is packed with rowers, family and friends enjoying a well-deserved breakfast, tea and coffee - or something a bit more refreshing. Each squad will also meet after training sessions for a catch-up. Some squads organise their own food for squad members
Our greatest asset.
We are an incredibly welcoming club and you'll become a member of a group of friendly, supportive rowers.
