"Learn to row" – three short words that can be life-enriching in terms of both physical and mental well-being. Rowing utilises 85% of your muscle mass, gives you a great cardio workout, has a low injury risk, and helps improve your flexibility, balance, and concentration.
We have a fleet of modern boats ranging from safe and stable beginner’s boats to lightweight racing shells. We coach in a group environment, but within that, we aim to tailor the experience to your personal rate of development.
Learning to row is a great way to keep fit and meet new people.
We run courses throughout the year on Saturday mornings. You'll be taught the basics of rowing, starting on our rowing machines, then moving onto our training boats. Initially you'll be in a training boat with 3 other rowers and a cox, before graduation to solo rowing. Our "fat singles" are very stable, but can also be fitted with stabilising floats to help until you get your sense of balance.
After each session there is time for drink and a spot of breakfast in the clubhouse.
Similar to our adult programme, we also offer junior learn-to-row sessions on Sundays with our junior coaches. This is a perfect opportunity for young people to try the sport.
Mike organises our Learn To Row courses. He has years of experience as a rower and has served as Club Captain for several years in the past.
